Quotation Validity Period: How to Write It Clearly

When material, equipment, currency, or supplier costs can change, an open-ended quotation may create unnecessary risk. A validity period tells the customer how long the stated prices and terms remain available.

What does a validity period mean?

It states how long the prices and commercial terms in the quotation remain valid. After that date, the business may review the pricing or scope again.

How can it be written?

Keep the wording short and unambiguous. You can use either a number of days from the issue date or a specific expiry date.

  • This quotation is valid for 15 days from the issue date.
  • Prices are valid until 15 October 2026.
  • After the validity period, pricing may be reviewed based on current costs.

When is it especially useful?

Validity periods are particularly useful in industries where exchange rates, raw materials, equipment, or supplier costs can change quickly, including electrical, HVAC, construction, security, and similar sectors.
